UNSW Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney embarked on a nationwide survey of international students. It asked international students what help they need to avoid mistreatment by poor employers and accommodation providers.
The survey is part of the Information for Impact research project which aims to enable education providers across the NSW VET, ELICOS and higher education sectors to more effectively deliver information that assists students to avoid and address exploitation. Funded by StudyNSW, project partners include English Australia, ISANA NSW, Redfern Legal Centre, Council of International Students Australia, education agents and the Fair Work Ombudsman.
The survey has now closed, with over 5,000 international student participants. The findings will be published in a report in late 2019.
